Perched on the hillside overlooking a small country village in the Uzès region of the South of France, sits the majestic stone tower of Mas Bagard...
LOCATION
Dating back several centuries Mas Bagard and its recently converted tower are nestled into the hillside overlooking the village of Baron which is about 9km east of the historic Medieval town (Duchy) of Uzès in the French regional department of the Gard. Getting there is easy. Airport distances from UK are: Nimes 30mins, Montpellier 60mins and Marseille 90min. The TGV from London goes to Avignon and Nimes. Motorway A9 is 25km away.

FACILITIES
Kitchen
There is a fully equipped kitchen. Oven, microwave, induction hob, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, coffee maker, cutlery, china, cooking utensils, stick blender and plenty of storage space.
Garden & Parking
Garden and terrace with splendid views across the village and rolling countryside. Equipped with parasol, sun loungers and a dining table and chairs. There is parking for one car next to the tower with ample space for cars round the corner.
Bedroooms
Three double bedrooms, one with a 180cm size bed that can become two singles. One bedroom with double bed 160cm. Both of these have en suite shower rooms and a shared separate WC. There is a twin bedded room on the ground floor with beds that can be joined to form a king size bed. This has an adjacent bathroom with a bath, shower, WC and basin
Facilities
Linen and towels provided.
Wifi / Internet. There's an open fireplace as well as underfloor heating in living and dining areas. Electric radiators in all bedrooms. Iron + board, vacuum cleaner, hairdryer, cot, high chair, books and board games.
Pool
There is is a large 9mx4.5m pool shared with the owner's house. It is across the road and has large natural stone terracing around two sides. It is equipped with sun loungers and a parasol for a relaxing day in the sunshine.
Dining

The accommodation comprises of a spacious kitchen with table and seating for 8 people. Shaded terrace for dining outdoors. Alternatively, enjoy dining out locally in historic places like Uzès, Vézénobres or Nîmes and Arles.

REGION & PLACES TO VISIT
Historical Sites
Roman remains abound in Uzès, Arles, Nîmes and the world heritage site of the Pont du Gard. Medieval architecture is common, a highlight being the Palais du Pape in Avignon. There are good roman history museums in Nimes & Arles
Cultural Sites
There are good art galleries in Avignon and Aix-en-Provence. Of course Van Gogh spent an important part of his career in and around Arles.
For modern art visit the Carré d'Art in Nîmes, Luma Art Centre Arles.
Local Villages
The nearest town is Uzès, which has been beautifully restored with plentiful restaurants, bars, shops and a famous market on Saturdays. Many of the honey coloured stone villages are fun to explore.
St. Quentin la Poterie is a vibrant centre for ceramics as it has been since Roman times.
Countryside
The Camargue known for its white horses, bulls and bird watching is on the coast only 40minutes away. The Cevennes and Gorges du Tarn are 30 minutes away with wonderful walking, stupendous scenery and several caves to visit.
Sports
There is tennis, golf and bike hire in Uzes. Canoeing on the Gardon, Ceze and Ardeche. Swimming off the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean is only 40mins away.
Riding locally and in the Camargue.
Festivals
There are many music & cultural festivals in the summer including in Uzès, Festival d'Avignon, and Les Chorégies d'Orange in the Roman amphitheatre. There is a strong bull culture and every village has bull running during their annual “fête”.
